What's in a Name

Why Critical Mass I hear you ask?

Weeeell, critical mass has much to do with nuclear fission but this band would prefer to not be related to that concept. Critical mass is also related to reaching a stage in an activity where the process becomes self sustaining. This is a concept (if taken to music) where we could definitely relate.

An extremely talented group known as Crosby, Stills and Nash had a huge influence on the playing, singing and song writing style of the original CM. It was natural to look for inspiration to them when searching for a band name.

David Crosby wrote an acapella song entitled ........ Critical Mass. It has 4 or perhaps 6 voice harmonies and we believe it is an incredible piece of music. Discarding approximately 300 scratchings and scribblings, we opted for this name.

Yes there are dozens of bands around the world named Critical Mass. But.... we are Critical Mass - the Band. And we dig the name!

Cool huh?

Well said Glenn,

Thats what fans are all about. Supporting from small beginnings to sustain a chain reaction to greater things. Keep up the good work and CM the band will mushroom into one of CT's favourite bands well known for their contribution to harmonic music.
